Welcome to the campaign web site for Barbara Wysocki and Steve Beckett, Chair and Vice Chair of the Champaign County Board. Under Barbara and Steve's leadership, the current County Board has accomplished a great deal since they assumed leadership in December 2004.

TOP TEN REASONS TO SUPPORT BARBARA WYSOCKI AND STEVE BECKETT IN THE NOVEMBER 7, 2006 ELECTION:

• 10: Supported numerous Democratic candidates and causes on local, state and national levels for decades.
• 9: Developed a pre-qualified vendor list to promote minority and women owned business contractors on all Champaign County construction projects.
• 8: Awarded $4 million to all qualified minority and women owned business contractors on the Champaign County Nursing Home project, which represented 20% of the contract work on that project.
• 7: Sponsored and passed a county resolution to extend spousal benefits to domestic partners.
• 6: Supported Democratic values and the progressive Democratic agenda through appointments to outside Boards and Commissions such as John Chato and Willard Broom to the Champaign-Urbana MTD Board; Susan Mauer, Dr. Tom O'Rourke, Dr. John Peterson and Dr. Julian Rappaport to the County Board of Health; Chris Alix to the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District Board; and Ruth Green to the County Forest Preserve Board.
• 5: Stopped charging jail inmates for the use of jail phone services.
• 4: Saved county taxpayers over $1 million dollars by careful oversight and refinancing of county debt.
• 3: Served in leadership positions on vital county board committees such as Finance and Facilities, and currently as Chair and Vice-Chair of the County Board.
• 2: Worked to preserve County history through the clock and belltower project and the County's Abraham Lincoln Museum.
• 1: Provided strong and effective representation to the voters in District 9, as well as all Champaign County citizens.
