ACCEPTS THREE DEBATE INVITATIONS FOR RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN
Chicago - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced Thursday that he
will participate in three debates for his 2002 re-election campaign.
"I look forward to debating my opponent. I'm hopeful that
the forums we've chosen will reach voters across the state,"
Durbin said.
- The three debates will be:
Illinois Radio Network/WBBM's debate on October 8, 2002 or October
9, 2002 in Chicago, which will air on IRN affiliates throughout
Illinois;
- WLS-TV/League of Women Voters' debate on October 13, 2002 at
10:30 a.m. at the ABC studios in Chicago; and
- WILL-TV's debate on October 13, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in Champaign,
which will air on WSIU-Carbondale and other downstate PBS affiliates.
The Jim Durkin campaign has agreed to participate in each of the
three debates. The format of each debate will be determined by each
of the campaigns and the debate sponsor within the next few weeks.
