Cell Research I support federal funding for a number of areas of scientific inquiry, including stem cell research, with appropriate safeguards. We should draw a clear line in prohibiting "human cloning" while not eliminating valuable stem cell research opportunities. Although I appreciate the President's effort to take a balanced approach in evaluating this controversial area of research, I remain concerned that the Adminstration's arbitrary deadlines and constraints on non-reproductive embryonic stem cell research may waste precious time for those suffering from debilitating diseases. Further delay may cost many the chance of a cure or treatment. |
