Internet
Sales Tax
I oppose the moratorium on Internet sales taxes. As more and more transactions are completed over the Internet rather than in retail stores, traditional "brick and mortar" stores are severely disadvantaged. Allowing Internet sales to go untaxed increases the likelihood that "Main Street" retailers in Illinois and across America will be forced to close their doors. I do not believe that the government should be picking winners and losers in a competitive marketplace. Continuing the ban on Internet sales taxes would endanger Illinois funding for education, road construction and repair, police officers, and other vital state and local services, including services that benefit Internet companies. Every business should pay its fair share to support our state. |
